Dr. Tokunboh T. Rose

Our Inspiration

Dr. Tokunboh (Toks) Rose was an outstanding child and adolescent Psychiatrist. She was educated in some America’s finest schools including the famous Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. She studied at Columbia University, University of Virginia Medical School, Residency at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore Maryland in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. She practiced Child/ Adolescent Psychiatry at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina until her death in June 2019. Dr. Rose will be honored at the hospital by establishment of an annual award in her name for her hard work. She was the Pioneer of Tele-Psych Medicine, and the award is to recognize an outstanding doctor in the field of Telemedicine in Psychiatry.​

Mrs. Toyin G. Rose

Founder

Toyin Rose is the mother of Dr Tokunboh Rose. Mrs. Rose studied Chemistry and worked at the Research Department of Carter-Wallace, a pharmaceutical and product company. She worked with her husband for a period of years and traveled around the world with him and their daughters, when they were younger. She is an active member of three well-know
and prominent voluntary organizations in Washington, D.C, and is currently sitting on the board of two.

She is passionate about the work and services Dr Rose did before her passing and to continue her vision in helping the children and young adults with mental illness and disabilities.

Ms. Toria Rose

Board Member

Toria Ross is the younger sister of Dr. Toks Rose. She received her education at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. before attending Duke University, where she majored in psychology. She currently works at Meta (formerly Facebook) as a Program Manager supporting new product testing. Toria lives and works in New York City.

Mr. Tim H. Rose

Board Member

Mr. Rose is the father of Dr. Tokunboh Rose. He is the Managing Director and owner of T4 Logistics, LLC. Mr. Rose studied at University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is an international entrepreneur, business owner, economist, and policy consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the international furniture industry, international logistics, international project management sales, international business and international relations and has traveled the world.

Dr. Terri Blackwell, MD

Dr. Blackwell has always been fascinated with the brain/mind connection, how our perceptions shape every aspect of our lives.  She earned her BA in psychology at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and was awarded the Board of Governor’s scholarship to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she become even more fascinated with understanding and treating mental illness.  She completed a psychiatric residency and research fellowship at North Carolina Memorial hospital, and became board certified in psychiatry.

Over her 24-year career, she has been dedicated to the compassionate care of patients, advocating for an integrated approach to wellness, including mental, physical, and spiritual health.  She has been recognized by her colleagues and patients for her years of service by being nominated and chosen several times as an Atrium Health Provider of the Quarter and was a nominee for an Atrium Health Teal Acorn Career Award.  She has also been active in her community, volunteering with school and church projects, and mentoring high school and college students to encourage them to seek higher education and career opportunities.

Dr. Blackwell, her husband and their daughter enjoy music, movies, outdoor festivals and traveling to the beach and abroad, always looking for the next adventure, and new perspectives from those they meet along the way.

Dr. Ryan Livingston, MD

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Assistant Medical Director, Psychiatric Emergency Services at the Atrium Health Behavioral Health, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Livingston received his Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University before going on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.  He then completed his psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.  He joined Atrium Health after his fellowship as a staff child and adolescent psychiatrist before transitioning to the psychiatric emergency department in 2015.  He has been the assistant medical director of psychiatric emergency services since 2017.  He oversees a group of more than 30 psychiatric providers in managing acute mental health crises in patients across the lifespan.  He is actively involved in academics, serving as the co-medical director for Atrium’s Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Behavioral Health Fellowship for the past 7 years.  He also works closely with psychiatric residents and medical students in the emergency department.  Dr. Livingston is board-certified in both Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. 

Dr. Alicia Romeo, MD, DFAPA

Ms. Christine Zazzaro, M.Ed, LCMHC

Vice President and Facility Executive, Atrium Health, Behavioral Health Charlotte

Ms. Zazzaro received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of South Carolina. She has worked in the fields of Mental Health and Substance abuse for over 30 years. As the Vice President and Facility Executive of Behavioral Health Charlotte, she is responsible for the strategic planning and expansion of Atrium Health’s largest Behavioral Health campus which consists of a 66-bed hospital, the regions only psychiatric emergency room, and over 10 outpatient programs to serve the greater Charlotte Region’s behavioral health needs. Before becoming the Facility Executive for BHC she created and grew innovative programs to expand access to care for underserved areas in our state. Under her direction, these programs grew to provide virtual consultations for patients in 23 Acute Care Emergency Rooms and multiple inpatient units as well as broadening the scope of virtual psychiatric care to include centralized patient placement, virtual patient navigation, and private, secure transportation for behavioral health patients who need hospitalization. Christine is also on the Executive Board of Directors for NAMI Charlotte.
